Can You? and Dr. Seuss’ Sleep Book boast bright new covers that incorporate much needed guidance on reading levels: Blue Back Books are for parents to share with young children, Green Back Books are for budding readers to tackle on their own, and Yellow Back Books are for older, more fluent readers to enjoy. Ten Apples Up On Top belongs to the Green Back Book range.Since 1961, Ten Apples up on Top has been helping preschoolers learn to count and read simultaneously. Simple illustrations and even simpler rhymes make this apple-balancing competition between a dog, a tiger, and a lion a fun, easy place to practice sight words and phonics. Siblings can even take turns reading phrases like “Seven apples up on top. I am so good they will not drop.” The inevitable tumbling crash is a great climax for busy toddlers to enjoy, and parents will appreciate the cooperative lesson the last page offers. Children’s Books By Dr. Seuss

Children’s Books By Dr. Seuss

Children’s books by Dr. Seuss are quite a rage among children. The life’s lessons, quirky characters and rhymes make these books very interesting and informative. The stories are very entertaining, imaginative and witty with a controlled vocabulary and beautiful pictures. Here is Dr. Seuss book list containing some of the most popular children’s books. * Green Eggs and Ham * Horton Hears a Who!
* Horton Hatches the Egg
* How the Grinch Stole Christmas
* The Lorax
* And To Think that I Saw It on Mulberry Street
* The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
* Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Green Eggs And Ham: The continuous repetition in green eggs and ham fascinates both younger kids, and the kids who have just begun reading on their own. Sam-I-am is persistent in convincing one of the characters to try the green eggs and ham. The rhyming and humor in the book is used to explain the significance of not judging until one has tried the thing. Horton Hears A Who!: This book puts a lot of stress on respect, integrity, and responsibility. The main character of the story, Horton is a remarkable elephant. His perseverance and compassion helps save tiny creatures who do not even exist for others. The illustrations in the book are very appealing. Horton Hatches The Egg: This book illustrates the importance of a family. When the mother bird ditches her egg, Horton swears to take responsibility of hatching the abandoned egg. Despite the tribulations, he perseveres. The book is humorous, but proves a very important point. How The Grinch Stole Christmas: This is one of the most popular children’s books ever written. It has been made into a feature film and is considered a classic. In the story, the Grinch, embezzles all Christmas but in spite of his best efforts is not able to lower the Christmas spirit in the town. This leads to an astonishing change in the Grinch. The Lorax: This is a great read for children between the age group of 8-12 years. The book depicts the dangers of not being concerned about the environment. However, the tale of the Once-ler, who ruined all the trees for his profit, in spite of the warnings given by the fuzzy yellow Lorax, is not at all gloomy. It is a happy ending as the Once-ler feels remorseful and one of the Truffla Tree seed gets saved. This book covers a very serious subject, but in a humorous way. And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street: This book is very popular with four to eight year old kids. The pictures are delightful. The story revolves around Marco, who is keen to have something to tell to his father when he asks what he had seen that day. His thoughts run wild when he walks back home, and he imagines several funny sights. The 500 Hats Of Bartholomew Cubbins: This story tickles the funny bone. Bartholomew gets into a lot of trouble for not being able to remove his hat in front of the king, as a token of respect. As poor Bartholomew tells the King he has taken off the hat, there is one more hat underneath, and this goes on and on. The king asks for experts to figure out a method to remove all the hats. But they just can’t. Oh, The Places You’ll Go!: This is a very inspirational children’s book that is to uplift people who are going to enter a brand new phase in their lives. Children’s books by Dr. Seuss make a great gift and also a must buy for those who have small kids. These books make a great read and help learn some valuable lessons.

870802b1d55492b62cc1b653c19c8217 The Sneetches and Other Stories (Dr. Seuss: Yellow Back Books)

The Star-Bellied Sneetches have bellies with Stars, but the Plain-Bellied Sneetches have none upon thars! Rivalries rocket when Sylvester McMonkey McBean steps in to prey on their prejudices, but in the end we realise that prejudice is nothing more than a rediculous waste of time. With his unique combination of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes, Dr. Seuss has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read for over fifty years. Creator of the wonderfully anarchic Cat in the Hat, and ranked among the UK’s top ten favourite children’s authors, Seuss is firmly established as a global best-seller, with nearly half a billion books sold worldwide. As the first step in a major rebrand programme, HarperCollins is relaunching 17 of Dr. Seuss’s best-selling books, including such perennial favourites as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks. In response to consumer demand, the bright new cover designs incorporate much needed guidance on reading levels, with the standard paperbacks divided into three reading strands — Blue Back Books for parents to share with young children, Green Back Books for budding readers to tackle on their own, and Yellow Back Books for older, more fluent readers to enjoy. The Sneetches and Other Stories belongs to the Yellow Back Book range.”Now, the Star-Belly Sneetches / Had bellies with stars. / The Plain-Belly Sneetches / Had none upon thars.” This collection of four of Dr. Seuss’s most winning stories begins with that unforgettable tale of the unfortunate Sneetches, bamboozled by one Sylvester McMonkey McBean (“the Fix-it-up Chappie”), who teaches them that pointless prejudice can be costly. Following the Sneetches, a South-Going Zax and a North-Going Zax seem determined to butt heads on the prairie of Prax. Then there’s the tongue-twisting story of Mrs. McCave–you know, the one who had 23 sons and named them all Dave. (She realizes that she’d be far less confused had she given them different names, like Marvin O’Gravel Balloon Face or Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate.) A slightly spooky adventure involving a pair of haunted trousers–”What was I scared of?”–closes out the collection. Sneetches and Other Stories is Seuss at his best, with distinctively wacky illustrations and ingeniously weird prose. From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere. In this hilarious exploration of simple concepts such as colours, numbers and opposites, Dr. Seuss presents a crazy world of boxing Goxes and winking Yinks that drink pink ink! One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish belongs to the Blue Back Book range.”Did you ever fly a kite in bed? Did you ever walk with ten cats on your head?” Such are the profound, philosophical queries posed in this well-loved classic by Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel. While many rhymes in this couplet collection resemble sphinx-worthy riddles, Seuss’s intention is clear: teach children to read in a way that is both entertaining and educational. It matters little that each wonderful vignette has nothing to do with the one that follows. (We move seamlessly from a one-humped Wump and Mister Gump to yellow pets called the Zeds with one hair upon their heads.) Children today will be as entranced by these ridiculous rhymes as they have been since the book’s original publication in 1960–so amused and enchanted, in fact, they may not even notice they are learning to read!
